The goal was to develop a structural system for a continuously double curved surface that would permit different degrees of porosity. The system is based on a basic grid with all lattices having the same length (square). The system adapts to locally to different degrees of curvature only by the angular modulation of the joints (rhombus). The lattices consist of double walled tubes. Once fixed into final position, the tubes are filled with synthetic resin. UV-rays bond the composite for final strength. The interspaces are filled in with pneumatic pillows allowing for infinite gradients of aperture.
