Iran, 2006

Iran epitomises everything that western societies are averse to: Anti-Semitism, Anti-Americanism, Fundamentalism, Terrorism, megalomania and the atomic bomb. The younger generation gives the impression of being haplessly in love. In Teheran, fall set in, a fall of melancholia.
The old people describe life differently, more distinguished. One would live in a country of monologue, the one party always has to listen, whilst the other party is talking. And it’s always the same party talking – currently.
It’s a country with 68 million residents. But there are 135 million characters. This twofold-being, this double moral standard, that everyone is mired in, makes it so complex to understand the culture – according to western standards.
