Munich, Germany, 2007

Car design needs space for ideas. Accordingly the design studios are articulated as a fluent spatial continuum encouraging new ideas and facilitating collective intelligence – THINK SPACE. Car design also requires very specific places for the prototyping of physical models: milling centers, workshops, measurement plates for the digitalization of prototypes – MODEL SPACE.
Car design emerges between these two kinds of spaces and their close linkage. The tectonic boxes that house the Model Space – seemingly exploded, floating freely in space – span a continuous spatial sphere accomodating the Think Space. A maximum of interaction and awareness is achieved: short paths, visual integration, spatial and topographical differentiation along with high degrees of flexibility.
